N. Balakrishnan, the managing director of "The Cool Investor," started his working life in New York in 1981 covering the US Federal Reserve policies. Since then he has worked in the financial industry in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India. He worked as a Research Manager for Bankers Trust in Singapore and he also traded for his own account at the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX). He later worked for the Far Eastern Economic Review as a financial writer in Hong Kong. He graduated from Amherst College, Massachusetts, USA with a magna cum laude (class of '79) and obtained his M.Sc. from Columbia University, New York City. He also studied at the London School of Economics.
